Location Pages for Local SEO: A Practical Content Brief

Plan location pages with real services, directions, hours and booking information. Use a practical brief to make each branch useful to customers.

A location page helps a visitor choose and use a particular branch. Its value comes from accurate local information and a clear next action. A template can maintain consistency, but each page needs facts that belong to that location.

Include information that changes the decision

Start with the branch name, address where appropriate, phone, hours and services actually available there. Add entrance or parking guidance, public transport details when verified, accessibility information and appointment or ordering links. A useful map is optional; provide the address and directions in text as well.

A fictional clinic with two entrances should explain which one patients use and where step-free access is available. A generic paragraph about the surrounding city does less to help the visitor. Do not invent staff, facilities, local testimonials or office addresses to make pages look distinct.

Make the page reachable

Link branches from a location directory and from relevant service pages. Use a clear title, one main heading, a self-referencing canonical and a permanent URL. Link the matching Business Profile to that page. Verify that the important information exists in the initial HTML and works on a narrow screen.

Keep pages distinct by purpose

Two branches in one city can have distinct pages if they have different addresses and customer journeys. A separate page for every neighbourhood is harder to justify when each page says the same thing and sends visitors to the same generic enquiry. Evaluate service-area guidance separately from real branch pages.

Maintain a source of truth

Store hours, phone numbers, addresses and URLs in a maintained location register. Record who can approve changes. Review the page and public profile after holidays, moves and closures; scheduled data changes need an owner and a check that they appeared correctly.

Use the location page brief for a content worksheet and the schema generator for a draft based on the visible business facts. Structured data must agree with the page. It does not replace the page or establish rich-result eligibility by itself.
