Google Business Profile Performance: Interpret Customer Actions

Interpret Business Profile performance measures and compare consistent reporting periods. Separate profile interactions from qualified leads and revenue.

By Grow Wild Agency Inc. · Updated September 11, 2026 · 2 min read

Business Profile performance reports describe supported interactions with a profile. Available measures depend on the business and product features. Inspect the current report and its definitions rather than carrying old dashboard labels into a new monthly report.

Document what each number means

Record the location, reporting period, metric label, definition and data source. Website clicks, calls, direction requests and booking interactions are not interchangeable. Some depend on buttons or integrations being present. A missing measure may reflect availability or setup rather than no customer interest.

Connect the website destination

Use the correct branch URL and consistent campaign labels where appropriate. The UTM builder can prepare a website link; it does not connect analytics automatically. Verify the property receiving data and test that tags survive redirects. Keep personal information out of URL parameters.

Review the operational context

Record special hours, closures, promotions and new services. A winter activity business and a year-round repair service will have different seasonal patterns. Compare appropriate periods and avoid implying that every change follows from the last profile edit.

In an illustrative café, direction requests rise after a nearby festival while website clicks remain steady. That pattern is relevant context for demand, not proof that a new photograph improved ranking.

Report a decision

Pair observations with an action: repair the booking destination, clarify a service, verify hours or investigate lost calls. Keep the outcome check separate from the task's completion. For multi-location reporting, retain branch-level detail so a portfolio total does not conceal local problems.

Use the measurement framework and monthly report template to connect the dashboard to decisions.

Follow the customer action through

A website click or call interaction is one step in the customer journey. Use the lead-tracking guide to reconcile accepted website enquiries with staff-confirmed outcomes, and record connected calls separately when a suitable call-tracking system is in place.
