AI-assisted search creates another way people ask about businesses and places. A useful approach starts with accurate public information, accessible pages and clear answers. There is no special schema or file that guarantees an AI system will recommend a business.
Publish facts people can verify
Make services, locations, hours, prices where approved, restrictions and booking routes clear. Use reliable sources for factual guidance and distinguish the business's claims from independent evidence. Keep information current on the platforms customers use.
Answer complete customer questions
A fictional hotel might explain check-in, parking, accessibility and cancellation conditions in ordinary readable text. Those answers help travellers regardless of whether they arrive from a search engine, an assistant or a direct link. Do not hide critical information inside an image or an interaction that has no readable page equivalent.
Use structured data appropriately
Describe what the page actually contains. An educational reference site should not mark itself as a fictional storefront, and a business should not invent reviews or credentials. The schema guide explains the boundary between markup and search eligibility.
Test with a defined method
Record the assistant, date, query, location context and answer. Verify cited sources and distinguish a brand mention from a link that brings a visitor. Answers may vary, so a single successful test is not market share. Do not claim a competitor is absent from AI search based on one prompt.
Keep priorities practical
Google's guidance for its AI search features builds on ordinary SEO fundamentals. For other platforms, consult current documentation about discovery and crawler controls. Granting crawler access is not guaranteed selection, and blocking a training crawler is not always the same as blocking a search product.
Start with the technical checklist and content strategy. Use observed referral and enquiry data where available, with limitations stated.
